Museum of Modern Art
I went on my own to the Museum of Modern Art. The museum has lots of interesting pieces of work. Sometimes I wonder how they allow little kids to view some of these images. Some pieces are quite graphic. One piece that I really liked was the Love sculpture by Marisol Escobar. It is a human like figure with a Coca-Cola bottle in its mouth. After seeing this piece I also decided to write my art history paper on it. After analyzing and researching this piece, its clear that the artist was trying to correlate the power of big business over people. It was a really interesting and educational trip to the museum. I thought I would have to go to another museum for my art paper but luckily I was able to find something while I was here for this media class. I think the fact that I was looking for a piece of art to analyze also made me pay attention to all the work even more. I loved the whole museum especially the photography gallery, very interesting work there.

Blog Post 3 Relationships between Shots
I chose to watch a set from the Ultra Music Festival. I was editing a video for a dj and he suggested I watch this to get inspiration for his promotion video.
Ultra Music Festival Showtek Set
I think this entire video relies on editing. The quick cuts and establishing shots really set the festival up. In order to be interested and enjoy this video you need to see all different angles frequently or the viewer would probably just lose interest. When the beat and sounds builds up or drops they cut to better more interesting shots and the video pace seems to speed up. Composition varies from singling out people to larger group shots, to close ups of the DJ. There is always a lot of movement though, people are constantly moving, jumping, dancing, and the quick cut shots correlate with this fast movement. The cuts are obvious as it goes from an up close of a girl to a crowd shot. I think for this genre you need to have variety or people would get bored. With slower cuts of the same shots people would tune out because all they have to focus on then in the music, and they've heard the music set before. The reason they watch festival sets, is for shots of the crowd and the dj.

Sound walk
For this sound walk assignment I decided to walk around a local park, outside of Manhattan. I went to Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island. It has a lake, trails in the woods, and lots of wildlife.
The sound was very open and airy. You can hear kids playing in the background on the jungle gym in the distance. When someone was passing you can hear bits of there conversion.
The most interesting thing that I heard was while I was walking on a trail. I heard ruffling and crunching so I turned around and looked up the hill. There was a deer running through the trees. Then about ten minutes later there was a smaller deer following in the same direction.
There were also many geese and ducks in the pond. A lot of them just saw around not making a sound but there was a group of four geese that flew into the water together. The flew over a bridge and all landed at the same time. When they did land in the water there was a rippling sound of their wings hitting the water.
Also I brought my dog with me who was growling at the ducks. My dog is very calm she’s a big dog. But the little dog always bark at her and get aggressive, so I heard lots of barking when people with dogs passed by. Quite sharp in sound and annoying at times.

Artist Statement!!
Artist Statement
I have always had an infatuation with the tv, film, and modeling industry. When I was a kid I was a model/actress. I wasn't some big time child star, but I did play someone's daughter on Law and Order SVU for like two episodes.
Anyway, through all my experiences on set, whether it was tv, film, or a photoshoot, I came to the conclusion that I loved the camera. As I got older being on the other side of the camera was a lot more appealing to me. Luckily when I decided to switch sides, I was able to get my hands on some really great equipment as my mom is a professional photographer.
Through her I learned all the ins and outs of the camera. Personally, I have realized that taking pictures is not as interesting as video. So I took it upon myself to learn how to shoot the best video I could on the cameras I had available to me. Then a client found out I started doing video and she booked me for the party. Next thing I know I am filming a Sweet 16 and that job led to another and I started booking more events. I do have a website with short clips of my recent work.
I am really excited about this class because there is always room for improvement. I hope to learn about recording sound, that is probably the one portion of video production I struggle in the most.

Also I have an interest in documentaries. When I watch a documentary my mind starts thinking about the composition of the shots and if the director is leaving anything out on purpose to fulfill an agenda or prove their personal point. I love conspiracy theories especially when they are explained or exposed in a documentary.
The first documentary I saw outside of school was Fed Up and I recommend watching this film. Its available on Netflix. I would love to be a part of a documentary. There is something that just feels so organic and un - calculated when you watch a good documentary, but in reality we, as Hunter Film/Media students, know how much work went into that particular shot. Anyway I am done ranting about documentaries...
